Community Investment

Beyond being an economic driver where we have operations, Hecla improved the social well-being our communities by giving back through charitable donations and volunteer efforts by our employees.

Commitment to Community

Hecla’s responsibilities as a company include contributing to the communities we call home, with particular attention to economic health and social development. We provide this support through donations from Hecla’s Charitable Foundation, as well as volunteer initiatives, fundraising, and donations from each site to respond to local needs.

Our employees and management team also regularly volunteer and raise funds for local charities and foundations. For example, in 2024:

  • Hecla employees and local partners in Quebec raised over $20,000 for Maison St-André Abitibi-Ouest to support Christmas Baskets and provide food assistance to low-income individuals in Abitibi-Ouest.
  • Keno Hill sponsored the 2024 Yukon Geoscience Forum held by the Yukon Chamber of Mines, as well as the Chamber’s “Yukon Night” – both the largest and most successful editions to date.
  • Together with other mining companies and local suppliers, we helped raise $60,000 for La Ressource Telethon for Persons with Disabilities ATNQ.
  • Hecla donated $70,000 to local clubs, activities, and charitable organizations near Lucky Friday, including the City of Mullan and local high school sponsorships.
  • Nevada employees volunteered for numerous organizations in 2024, including working in the Winnemucca Ministerial Association’s soup kitchen and attending the annual fundraising dinner for the Boys and Girls Club (Winnemucca chapter).
  • Green Creek supported students and schools by hosting mine tours, collecting and donating school supplies to the Juneau School District, contributing $10,000 for the Juneau Symphony Strings Camp, and participating in elementary school events on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM).
