Hecla Receives Mine Safety & Health Technology Innovation Award

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) recognized Hecla with its 2023 NIOSH Mine Safety and Health Technology Metal Sector Innovation Award for developing Underhand Closed Bench (UCB) mining, a method which allows for greater control of fault-slip seismic events that significantly improves safety. Honorees were selected based on their significant advancements to enhance mine safety by applying technology or improved processes in innovative ways.
